hmm no. Leave it another few months and hope it mellows out.

I'm going to do up a less idiotic brew guide to avoid the long aging this brew needs.

I just dumped 10L of that lidl cloudy apple juice into a 25L bucket , and popped in a good chunk of trub from the Ale I brewed recently,

It's a ten euro experiment , It'll be mildly interesting to see what comes out of it ,


I was reckoning that it probably wouldn't be the best to leave it in the plastic bucket for months , but if it drops a good chunk from its 1050 starting gravity, I might transfer it into a couple of Keggies to sit in ( I presume an aluminium party Keg won't do any real damage in a secondary fermentation for a few months )


Edit : krausen up already nice tight one . After only what 4 hours !

My plan for a less idiotic cider involves
1. Cider yeast
2. Yeast nutrient
3. Cooking apples as well as the juice.
4. Various adjustments of sugars and such later.

I hope yeast nutrient will make a big difference to the speed of maturing and the cooking apples should add some body.

I'd be interested in that. I have a sachet of cider yeast and am wondering what else I can put in with the juice to make the end result more interesting. In a good way.

Cider does take a while to mature (become palatable) but hopefully it can be speeded up a bit. Ill brew this tomorrow and report back in two months.

I am drinking the prison brew cider now. It is really nice. Needs to be cut with apple juice to add sweetness. Goes to show you really need to give cider the time it needs though.
