As far as wort chilling is concerned I was planning on using the cooler to chill the cooling water in the immersion chiller. I recon if I can get the tap water down even a small few degrees it will make a big difference getting from 30 down to 20. My last brew took 45 minutes to chill with tap water around 18c. Temp diff is vital.
That's the theory anyway!

That's a great idea and should help you to get down to even lager pitching temps.

Pretty expensive for what it is but if you eventually start kegging it can do double duty.

That's the plan. One cooler should do both jobs quite easily, hence the need to shift on the extra one.
I don't know what kind of sustainable temperature drop I can expect with tap water. I guess it will be a compromise of flow vs temp drop so a bit of messing will be needed to figure it out.
Yes, it would be pretty extravagent just for wort chilling but I can't think of any other way of speeding up chilling in the summer.
Once I do some testing I'll report in the Equipment section.
By the way, any suggestions on counter flow vs immersion?
