Sligo...so a bit of a trek from Derry

Heading there next week for a wedding. Any newer venues to look out for?

On an aside, is there much else to do? I'll have a bit of time to waste on the morning of the wedding but other than the castle there doesn't seem to be much to see.

Hit the Wineport Lodge and go to the spa. Or drop into the Fatted Calf in Glasson for lunch- they have craft beer too.

Tha Fatted Calf has moved from Glasson and is now based in Athlone town center. Hop on one of the tour boats and go out on the lakes for a few hours if you have the weather. They leave near the castle. The selection in Seans bar has improved lately and you'll get some local St. Mels in there along with a few more plus it's claiming to be Irelands oldest pub so there's another thing to see! McGuires is good but doesn't open till late and The Malt House still has a small but decent selection like St. Mels, Kinnegar and Mescan.
Enjoy your stay!

The Ritz is also a good spot, right on the Shannon too.

The Ritz, sadly, is no more but did have a decent selection.
