Fischer Beer, biere blonder, 6% 650 ml bottle 18 years 8 months ago #1

A friend recently brought me home a bottle of the above. Quie a nice decorative bottle as well as pleasant tasting

I saw from the good old net that it is brewed in / near Strasbourg where there is a strong German influence whilst apparently this beer has more of a French influence. See from the net also that it is now wholly owned subsidiary of Heineken. I Have drank it in draught form before in Luigi Malone Restaurant which I found it very good but my first time in bottle form. On a website I noted that it is also brewed in Greece. I had actually drank it on draught in Greece few years back and was surprised to get draught French beer there – now I know why!!!! At least it was a change from nearly all Heineken and Amstel in Greece

Anyone seen it for sale here by the bottle?

Yes they have it in Tasters in Blanchardstown. I thought it was nice enough. Even better than the beer are the bottles as they are huge and have swing caps so they're perfect for homebrew!

Beernut - not sure re it being different in Luigi's as not there for a while. I presume it is the same brewery though.

As for Mythos - I drank same in Greece simply rather than having the normal multinationals. I am off to Crete in six weeks so will see if any new arrivals there - will hardly hold my breath though!!!! Will no doubt try some Metaxa brandy which is superb - well 5 or 7 star issuperb in greece anyway!!!!

Rebel - thanks for info re abbot ale house stocking fischer. It is amazing how much beer can be stocked in that little place!!!!

Yeah, Mythos is not the worst! There is another local one Alfa, but it's pretty indistinguishable from Mythos. I prefer to drink local crap ahead of imported crap. Amstel and Heinekin seem to have a strangle hols on Greece!

And yes, have a couple of Metaxa after a meal especially. The 5 star one is best(3 is too rough and 7 is too sweet).
