I have been using tap water for years with no trouble.

Is there a particular problem with your water? If not, simply adding 1/2 a crushed campden tablet will get rid of the chlorine and you are good to go.

Water companies don't actually add calcium to the water. It, along with other minerals, occurs naturally. Are you boiling your water to precipitate calcium carbonate in order to change your water profile for all grain brewing? If so, you can use CRS[/url:2weime0c] to reduce it.

I'm' also passively looking for some place to get deionized water or distilled water; I've had some beers brewed with really, REALLY soft water lately and they are SOO nice and malty smooth and drinkable.

There's a new push by quite a few brewers and brewing scientists to start from deionized water and just add the minimum number of minerals required.

I think a light lager or any maltier style can benefit from soft water.

PMing for a quote, but I sure hope it's priced like it's just water...

Large pet shops and Aquarium shops will sometimes sell or even give away Reverse Osmosis water.

I paid €5 for 22.5 litres from the pet shop in Kinsealy on the Malahide road.

Rumour has it the aquarium/pet shop shop in Ashbourne will give it to you.

The shops also tend to sell 5 gallon containers for a good price and I bought one for €12 full of RO water.

Cheers

The shop in Ashbourne told me to bring a container and they will fill it from their 200l reserve tank.

I did not tell them that it was not for fish keeping....but then I was only making an enquiry and I was not asked. They said there would be no charge, I'd imagine mumbling something about happy guppys while you're there might help <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->
