Looking on there website they same its made with substantial amounts of wheat and elderflower in the mash. Does anybody who has sampled this stuff think the main character comes from the wheat or the elder flowers.[/quote:474s971x]
I've had Trade Winds a few times and it [i:474s971x]is[/i:474s971x] a lovely pint. I wasn't aware that it contained elderflowers but it has a lovely floral citrussy nose which I'd attributed to hops rather than elderflowers. I'd have guessed that most of the character was from the Perle hops with some subtle support from the elderflower. I'll have to drink it again to see if I can taste any elderflowers. Unfortunately, this will be a bit more difficult since I no longer live in Scotland but I'll return on visits in the future...

I hope it better than their use of First gold hops, nice beer but its very hard to pick out the first gold[/quote:y11qihy4]

It's funny, I think it really brings out the hops. I wasn't sure about this until now - I'm currently sipping St.Peter's Organic Best Bitter. It's wonderful, I don't know why but I didn't appreciate this beer the last time I tried it. It reminds me very much of Badger First Gold in that it has the 'orange marmalade' flavour I associate with First Gold hops.

St Peter's Bitter is wonderful stuff. I went through a phase of drinking it quite a bit. I found the Badger First Gold very gassy and not that special at all really. It just seemed to prickle my tongue.
