I hate weeding but just found something interesting. 16 years 1 week ago #1

Last year I found a strange mushroom out the back. It was actually quite massive being about 6 inches high. It was spongy and odd looking. I threw it away and then curiosity led me to look it up.

Turns out it was a Morel[/url:3hhgvuga] and while weeding today I found a bunch of them.

Hopefully I will cook them right because there are some toxins in them it seems but supposed to be a delicacy.

Ooooh very interesting. Do you have many of them?

make sure you identified it properly, some of the wild mushrooms can do you serious damage

The other thing I'd ask is if you have woodchip mulch down there at all? Apparently that carries the spores with it pretty often for morels.

It is definitely a real morel. The False ones are similar but look more like mutant morels

Yes I have woodchip down and I figured that might be where they came from.
