I'll be heading to vienna for the Ireland match against Slovakia in october.
Any body got any beer related things for me to do. Going with a big bunch of lads so i reckon nice tours are out - so its down to what pubs I should visit.

We're travelling to Zilina (chelsea played against them in the champions league last night) in Slovakia for the match - so on the off chance any one knows any good beer/pubs there too <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Ger Cork wrote a piece on Vienna and Bratislava here[/url:1qyxadoh].

I'm a big fan of 7 Stern[/url:1qyxadoh] myself.

I found a bar there, but not for beer. Loo's American Bar is the size of a bedroom and does cocktails and one beer on draught. But it's definately worth a look for uniqeuness.

I was in 7Stern at the weekend, really nice place, lovely beer garden, lovely beer, but the staff were very unfriendly and slow, at least the waiting staff were. The fella behind the bar was nice. They had no IPA unfortunately, claimed they haven't brewed it in ages, because they can't sell it to the austrians. I have a very nice bock, the marzen was lovely, nice dunkle too, and a hemp beer that was refreshing. THey had a chilli beer that was waaaay over the top for my liking, far too much. it really burned. They have a wonderful vending machine at the door for buying bottles of their beer and I brought home a harvest beer and something else which I forget, to try later.

That's a Viennese thing , You should see some of the Coffee houses !!.

There's a restaraunt somewhere with reputedly the best Schnitzel , and it used to have a really cranky old waiter who hurled abuse at german tourists in particular . It became famous for it , Germans went there and got abused by him and laughed at the whole expeience .

Austrians are a bit mad
