I had it in my head that Hope Brewery was being set up in The Harbour Bar in Howth (formerly the Cock Tavern). I dropped in yesterday and it didn't look like the brewery was operational. The only house beer was Howth Lager, which wasn't Hope-branded, and wasn't available anyway. They had taps from Wicklow Wolf and White Hag, but no Hope ones, and no Hope beer that I could see among the many bottles they offer. So: have I got this completely wrong? Is Hope connected to The Harbour or are they two different breweries-to-be?

The Hope brewery is actually beside Howth Junction station; i.e. Donaghmede. Not sure about any connection between Hope and Harbour.

I had the same impression, for some reason... then I looked at the pub's brewery and realised it wasn't probably "the one" <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Hope are contract brewing at the moment and are just starting to get set up in the industrial estate beside howth junction. Haven't been out in howth in ages but I know you can get the bottles in McHugh's down the road in Kilbarrack or in a couple of restraunts in Clontarf. pappilion is one.
Wicklow wolf are brewing for house beers apparently.
Also good news for that side of town is that Brú have supposed bought Smiths in Fairview.
Great to hear a bit of life is coming back to howth. Used to be great out there but has become a ghost town in the last few years. Apart from the feckin sea gulls that is.
