Strangford Lough brewery and beer 17 years 1 week ago #1

Interesting piece in the Down Democrat recently about changes in SLBC[/url:skp6uty0]. As well as applying for planning permission for their own brewery, it looks like they also intend to ship out malt extract along with yeast and hops to their US contractors, so they can make "genuine Irish beer".

Would that make US-brewed Strangford Lough beer the first commercially available kit brew?

Guinness might argue they are the first with their magic extract and yeast <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

I wounder if there a more currency fluctuations will they start to buy US extract to same more cost:?:

That's not extract, it's 'essence' (cough)

Looks like Strangford have got an eye for marketing alright, wonder what the beer is like?

[quote:12kq6ab5]In addition to having Irish names our beers are also based on traditional Irish recipes. The contents are typical for this part of the world, though we have added a very special local ingredient - Shamrock.[/quote:12kq6ab5]
