I'm returning to Ireland soon after many years abroad. Fantastic to see such a change in the real beer market <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="

I see many of the breweries listed have an asterisk next to their name to signify that they are contract brewed. I have zero issues with this approach, once the beer tastes good it's all that matters! Do these brewing companies tend to indicate on their labels that their beer is brewed by someone else? Is it even a requirement to do so?
I wonder are many of them 'cuckoo' or 'tenant' brewed or would most be wholly contracted out (bar recipe creation of course)? Transparency has to be key in this area of brewing I feel.
I think contact brewing is an interesting way to start out and could help those brewers get a foot in the door if they cannot afford or risk the outlay on a full brewery. But of course it's dependent on existing micro breweries having the spare capacity and willingness to accommodate their 'tenants'. I wonder do many have this spare capacity or is everyone going at near full blast? I'd imagine it's a difficult balancing act for both parties.
Also, there have been plenty of full breweries opening in recent years it seems. That's a lot of kit bought and money spent. Have we seen any casualties yet with people who may have gambled a little too much before the market was really ripe?
Anyway, really looking forward to investigating all these new breweries over the coming months and years. Hope they are widely available down the sticks! <!-- s:mrgreen: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt="
