Had my first visit to the Black Sheep last night, very nice it is too, spacious and i liked the layout. Had some delicious food too.....BUT...the first beer I asked for (Bitter and Twisted) wasn't available, grand so got an O'Hara's cask stout pretty good. Had my dinner and then asked for a Southern Hemisphere Sierra Nevada which also wasn't available - if they're not available can they not just either put a pint glass over the tap or have something that indicates the non-availability!

Wow, that seems kind of ranty but was only really slightly annoying. <!-- s:oops: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_redface.gif" alt=":oops:" title="Embarassed" /><!-- s:oops: -->

My last visit was a few weeks ago but there was no Hooker, no Metalman, no 5am Saint and nothing hoppy on the handpumps. Slightly annoying, as you say.

From a barman's point of view, most people won't bother to realise what a pint glass over the tap signifies. The pub manager/owner may often think it's better to give the appearance that the beer is available/they have a great selection rather than have loads of empty taps on display. It is really annoying when there's loads of beers unavailable though and it seems to be a regular thing at the Sheep.

Last time I was there I ordered a pint of bitter and twisted.
They went to pull a pint, and everything looked in order. A few seconds later I was told I'm afraid it's too high (a lot of froth from a new keg), you'll have to order something else!
Nooooo...

Re the bitter & twisted I know from our expierence in the bierhaus it took time to get it right, stout gas and a flow control! A pint glass Or simply wipe it from the menu board suffices

I thought it was the done thing in England to turn the pump clip around when something was off ?

Must be tough to get a consistent supply of cask beer in Ireland.
