Northbound have started selling 5l mini-kegs this week.
Personally I think they're a bit gimmicky and only worth it if you drink it all in one session. Bottles would win every time.
Though I used to work in a studenty off-license where the 5l Bitburger kegs sold really well, even though it wasn't any cheaper than cans. People seem to like the novelty of pouring their own just. Always thought Irish breweries were missing a trick with this one. Just going by Facebook posts, there seems to be a decent bit of interest with people mentioning parties and Christmas presents. I'd say they'll do well out of them.
They're priced at £22 in Derry, with the half litre bottles priced at £3, so a decent 33% saving.
Are Black's still selling ones too? What price are/were they?
