Harviestoun Schiehallion 19 years 6 days ago #1

I couldn't help but voice my excitement here!

What a beauty! Craft brewed in Alva, Scotland Harviestoun Schiehallion holds a lovely subtle hoppy aroma and pours a soft white head that only lasts for a short time. The colour is light and the taste is fruity and crisp with a soft hoppy bitter finish. Definitely recommending this one!

As I read on the bottle it uses Herbsbrucker Lager Hops which will probably mean more to you advanced brewers than the beginner me. It goes on to describe the beer as crisp, dry and airy with a beautiful fresh grapefruit taste. The bottle does not lie!

Yes, good stuff.

I had 2 pints of the best Harviestoun Ptarmigan I have ever had tonight. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> It had a definite orangey character. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

...and prior to that I'd had 2 pints of Black Sheep Bitter (one of my favourite beers) and that was also in good condition and slipped down very rapidly. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

...and in between we had a very good Nepalese meal. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Another pleasant evening in Edinburgh. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

BTW, Scottish Craft Brewers had a talk by the head brewer at Harviestoun at our last meeting. It was the second time I'd met him. One of the SCB members knows him well so if you have any questions I could forward them and we shall see...

It's a lovely beer, I'm a huge fan of their Bitter & Twisted which is similar. As far as Blonde Ales go I'd take B&T ahead of the likes of Summer Lightning any day.

I'm a big fan of the Harviestoun beers too. Does anyone know a source round these parts for their Old Engine Oil?

Haven't seen it around...
