Belfast Pub and Restaurant recommendations please. 14 years 4 months ago #1

The wife and I will be heading to Belfast on Saturday and back Sunday. Staying in the city centre. Any recommendations for pubs with good beer and restaurants with nice food (but lacking an enormous price tag)?

I just realised that our hotel is half way between Bridge House (Weatherspoons) and The Crown Liquor Saloon. Happy Days.

The Crown for the atmosphere and Cask Whitewater beers. Usually two to three available.

Molly's Yard, near Queens is quite good for food and also has craft beer on tap as I believe it's owned by the people at Hilden.

Stay out of The Bridge, it's a depressing 'brit theme pub' place like Yates' or Tobys.

As for dining recommendations- Richie and Reuben will be along shortly to tell you where Boojams is.

The John Hewitt is well worth checking out, but frankly I'd be happy staying in The Crown, especially if Belfast Black is on.

The Bridge House varies. Sometimes it's a quiet and civilised, if generic, Wetherspoon; and sometimes it's the sort of place that would make a denizen of Mos Eisley cantina walk out in disgust. But you'll know which mode it's in as soon as you stick your head in the door.

Bittle's is nice, if you don't might slumming it on the beer front a little. They have a decent bottle selection. There's a similar deal at the Duke of York.

Highly recommended Molly's Yard, i have now gotten it to become the in laws new favorite restaurant in Belfast. An there is always one to casks on as well <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
