I do have the feeling that the end is nigh for SPA. It's in a pub near me and I have never seen anyone buy it. (Except me.. I buy it for herself when she asks for a glass of Miller.)

Especially now that they can't get Amarillo. But seriously, did they really put Amarillo in it? Did they put any hops in it at all? If they were there they were well hidden.

I did manage to track down a pint of this after in the craft beer desert that is Wexford town.
"A holy jesus, throw me out a large bottle of Guinness there lad"
I would happily drive everyone home from the pub rather than drink another pint of it, did I say I didnt enjoy it <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

I've been reading about SPA on here, was curious and finally tried it from the bottle on Saturday (as couldn't find in pub in Wexford). Wouldn't buy it again..unlesss, unless I was in a pub (in Wexford) and was faced with the usual suspects+SPA.

It's somewhat of an 'Irish solution to an Irish problem'. I think the head brewer was given a hospital pass from the board of management: "We want a new beer, that is inspired by Smithwicks, but isn't Smithwicks, which will drag in Craft brew heads, but won't alienate existing Smithwicks drinkers, or dilute the brand by tasting like a real 'alternative'... Can you work within those confines?

Easily gotten around with the new dry hopping technique employing Heisenberg uncertainty principle
