Me thinks you are giving this company too much cudos,the level of failure of this company in launching new beers is incredible. If they did not have Guinness as their main brand they would have gone the way of the dinosaurs.

I'm with Will on this one...

Breó was a tasty wheat beer in an era when you literally couldn't buy a wheat beer in Ireland... It was more like a Belgian (Hoegarden etc.) than Weissen but when you think what's hapened since with the popularity of Erdinger & Co.... what might have been?

I remeber buying the last short-dated 6 pack of it from my offie (c.2001/02, or earlier?) and thinking why didn't this sell..

Now that the excitement has died down over Smithwicks Pale Ale, does anyone still drink it?

I've heard a couple of stories recently about pubs who's PA tap has disappeared overnight. No demand, seemingly.

I was on a stag in Kerry recently and the hotel had a predictably crappy selection of beers, but I was saved by their newly-installed Smithwicks PA tap. I was glad of the little blast of Amarillo hops at the time, but it tastes far too dry to me. (It must be lagered, anyone know?)

I think Smithwicks have played it too safe with this beer. They should have went all out, and tried to produce something more fruity and carmelly, like Galway Hooker.
