Thanks for the tips! As much as it pains me to admit that our Neighbour to the North has some great craft breweries, they really do have some great craft breweries I'd love to explore more. I'm quite happy to be heading to St Johns.

First thing's first: got to board this flight to Munster now. <!-- s;-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;-) -->

TBN, Were the Dusseldorf Alt houses still serving straight from wood last time you visited? (I'm pretty excited at the prospect.)

Yes, they all did.

Exciting! Thanks for the tips.

I was VERY happy with Pott's Alt (from Munster) on tap this evening. I had their landbier in bottle last time I was out this way but it didn't leave a lasting impression. I'm really quite fond of their alt beer even though it wasn't on wood. -It's got that flavor that I would normally associate with aromatic malt, although I know German's don't use aromatic malt.... what's the German version of Aromatic? Anyone remember? (Vienna shouldn't be terribly far off but I still think there's something closer.)

Great connection to Wexford! I saw a documentary about that area where some of the locals had an accent very similar to the Wexford one. Although, the clips in the programme were a few years old - is this still the case Nigel?

-That's really weird because another Canadian friend said that Newfoundland has the most similar weather of Ireland of any part of Canada. (I would've guessed Vancouver because of it's proximity to Seattle.)

Newfoundland esp. the area around St Johns was settled by a lot of South Eastern and especially Waterford people and some of the inhabitants still have very noticeable Waterford accents.
