Do breweries need to do more? 14 years 4 weeks ago #1

A publican friend of mine told me that he contacted Galway Hooker to discuss installing their beer on tap. Since the initial phone call 3 calls to GH have gone unanswered and un returned. Limerick currently has one GH tap in the whole city. Sales prevention?

This can happen in any small business.
When things are busy and staff is short or non existant it's sometimes hard to deal with everything as it should be.

I not speaking as a brewery, but as a lad that runs his own small business. I know this is not ideal and not the way things should be in a perfect world but I'm sure they do their best.

Not only can resources be stretched to the limit, you have to remember that each installation is paid for by the micro. That's tap and usually gas too, as well as the labour of fitting it.

In an ideal world they wouldn't be constrained by any of these things, the same way macros aren't.

I work for myself and am fully aware of the constraints and limited resouces that small businesses face. Installing a tap and gas is called a cost of sale. It may cost time and money to install but without it there are no sales and no income.

Allowing for the constraints and limited resources, not returning 3 calls is a tad remiss. Maybe they decided that they didn't want to do business with said publican, that is their right. There is a better way to manage that than not returning calls.

Ran a small business myself once so I can understand a bit of what up here. In a perfect world everything is done right and sales leads are followed up,it is not for us to try and second guess what is happening here.

As a possible remedy how about contacting the Beoir Brewery Liaison Officer quietly and ask can he/she help out? Micros can do without bad, one-sided press as a lot of potential customers lurk here.
