These big breweries are "the Matrix" and the only people it wants "unplugged" from being mindless consumers of their "everything tastes like oatmeal" marketing-created artificial world are the people who are employed to replace its equipment when a little red light comes on.

Take the blue pill and stay in your mindless macro world and enjoy your Smithwicks "craft series" or take the red pill, give the "agent" the finger, and see how far this craft beer rabbit hole goes.

Yes, I'm a zealot. But so far beer has only been stealing market share from beer; not other drinks. One more macro tap == one less micro tap; one more macro bottle == one less micro bottle.

New and better flavors are good, but not when it's a macro pushing out a micro; when all of the Irish micros have shelf/ counter space then maybe. (Microbreweries also employ WAY, WAY more people per unit of beer than macro breweries (robots don't go unemployed; they just sit underutilized; robots don't contribute to the economy, people do.))

How many macro breweries leave the profit in Ireland these days? -my GUESS is none
How many Irish craft breweries have a foreign holding company siphoning off profit and sending it somewhere else? -my GUESS is none

Drink craft, drink local!

I was in Waterford at the weekend and bought 5 pints of Metalman for me and 4 friends. One of them winced... ah, I won't go into what happened next, but this guy is a borg... he drinks Guinness and only Guinness wherever in the world he is. People like that are starting to annoy me. It's sooooo 1950s Catholic 26 county rural Ireland.

The time on Beoir.org is correct, if your personal timezone has changed, you can fix it in your profile. <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->
