I understand this is as far from a craft production as is possible, but I think this could do good things to promote choice. There are thousands of intransigents who will see this, and automatically try it with a more open mind as it has the Smithwicks brand and it might just open their mind to try other Irish Pale Ales. If it does well, it might make it easier for other Irish Pale Ale producers to get their product into Irish pubs.)[/quote:2es6byms]

Here's hoping!

[quote:1ldjq4wu]I can't see that working from a marketing point of view since it would highlight the ABV of regular Smithwicks, something Diageo seem desperate to keep as quiet as legally possible.[/quote:1ldjq4wu]

5% ABV?[/url:1ldjq4wu] why would they want to keep that quiet?

Ah Ok. I was wondering why i quite like Smithwicks, maybe its just that i can go down the pub and drink it without ending up getting sick on the cat. I am such a lightweight

For me this is good news, I live in a part of the country devoid of craft beer, the availablity of a beer with some semblance of flavour down in the local pub is welcomed. It will make a change from Guinness/Smithwicks. Obviously I'm not buying the "craft" marketing rubbish but it's better than nothing.

Is there much interest? Would you consider putting on a tap from [insert local brewery here]?"
