Thats a fair point. I will say though that it isn't and that I have asked them to consider stocking it.

My point isnt that you should not mention a good beer to a bar owner or even a customer if they are looking confused. It is that Galway hooker is not the red pill that will completely alter your view of the universe.

Most products I have no interest in. Fashionistas do not berate me for wearing Dunnes finest. They leave me alone wearing my bad clothes. In the same way I try not to berate those who believe lots of silly things as long as they do not force me to believe them.

Being positive about beer is very important. When you start slagging off the beer people drink all you do it get their backs up, which does nothing to tempt them to try craft beer.

"Have you tried Galway Hooker? It's made in Roscommon by two blokes from Galway and it's absolutely lovely! You should give it a go." Edit appropriately for whatever beer you wish to enthuse about. No need to slag off the macros.

That's very true.

Even to fine tune that a bit more. The "You should give it a go" bit; I have actually found that the suggestion that someone should try something doesn't work as well as saying "it's fecking lovely... I drink it all the time myself!" <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> But it's all a learning process.

I agree, when you are promoting something you only focus on what you are selling, however a trick that is used alot is to present what you are saying as different from your competition. You do not finish the sentence of course so that the person hearing you finishes it for you. Thimk.
