Denmark's a great model, I think, since it too has a giant multinational monolith in charge of the beer market.

5 breweries per county would be a pretty resounding success for Ireland

Well to be honest I've not worn my sandals in about three years and sometimes I did wear socks with them....but you digress

I think another choice is a good thing! If I'm stuck in the macro wilderness another choice is always a positive thing. It is a fair comment about the distribution being a problem for the craft brewers and I would love to see them come together to cover the map but that's all easier said then done. I think that if someone fell into the bottling business that a distribution business to go with that would work very well.

Tomorrow night I will be drinking Guinness because it will be all that is available, for all it's faults it's better than having Carling, Heiniken, Budweiser, Carlsberg, Fosters... as your "national drink".

Anyways this whole thread makes me angry, we need more good beer!

I think Hooker is a big ask when trying to convert drinkers, I think it's best to step them up, they are used to not having to deal with too much taste so something that is not too much of a step into the wilderness for them would be best, a blonde ale or one of our many great stouts.

Was in oneills last night and they have posters up advertising this on draught. "craft brewed for fuller flavour" is the slogan they're running with.
