Does anyone else not think the price of beer at this festival is waaaay too expensive?

2.50 for a half pint and 5 for a pint. That's as expensive as most bars in Dublin and more expensive than the B&C,

I thought the idea of festivals like this is to promote Irish Craft Beer, surely price is a huge factor in this.

I don't think many average Joe's will pay the entrance fee to pay standard price for pints.

That's just my 2c

CAMRA festivals in the UK generally charge pub prices, so does the Franciscan Well. I think these prices are identical to the ones at the cask festival there back in January.

What are you comparing them to?

The B&C has a range of prices and I'd say €5 is about average. Most beers served there by the half litre are over €5 a pint, pro rata.

If you don't think you'll get your money's worth, don't go.

And my 2c is that a beer festival isn't the best venue for people who want to drink beer by the pint.

I think brewers on the bay were €2.50 iirc.

Given that I pay pretty much €5 a pint for macro lager I really don't have an issue either way. My hope is that the breweries will make some cash out of it (and it's not like the Florins crap that The Taste of Dublin pull to grab a margin from the exhibitors). As it's kinda the first exhib of its kind I'll be there to promote it, and I'll make my mind up after that whether or not it's a waste of time.
