Wow, I'm really surprised at the negative reaction on here of all places.

Everyone accepts that wine has a wide price range based on quality , nobody expects to pay the same for Easi-singles as a quality craft cheese, yet God forbid a craft beer would cost the same as a pint of Budweiser!

But we are not going into a pub to drink beer- We're going to a showcase. Unfortunately hiring out the RDS is not cheap, so that has to be paid for. First by charging the exhibitors and then by charging the public (and then doing th Florin's thing like Taste of Ireland).

Anyway, I'm sure there will be a load of comp passes available and as Beoir members we will be looked after (hint, hint). Actually, it would probably not be a bad idea for Beoir to have a stand at it- but there wouldn't be enough time to put something together of a decent quality within this timeframe. Maybe next year.

Not the point Diablo! I thought that had been stated!

My opinion as well as some others, if you want to draw non beer geeks to this, a tenner in and 2.50 a half is expensive, for an event to promote Irish craft beer.
In the open market pay your price

No point in setting false expectations. Get them interested in €3 pints and they'll resent paying €3 for a bottle in the off license. The festival needs to be promoted on the basis of high quality, Irish product, not price.

Yet again us Irish are doing it again... high quality, Irish OVER PRICED product...
You just Don,t get it...
It costs 25-30 euro for a homebrewer, (cheaper again for micro brewer) give or take to produce 92 half pints...
That's €230 ... €200 profit... before expences...
I'm all for a profit margin and a "quality" "Irish " product but that's just ridiculous!

You don't think Mr. VAT man, Mr. Excise man or Mr. rent, rates, water charges, telephone, energy, insurance, transport, wages, equipment, printer, license, advertising man has anything to say about your back of a fag packet calculation ?

And after they've all had their say are we begrudging that a business might actually have the neck to make a profit ? ......on which Mr. Corporation Tax man will have his say.
