I wasnt having a rant in my comment above, I was merely trying to put myself in the mindset of my mates who im trying to convert to craft beer, all have said that their is no way they would py €10 into a festival to pay pub prices for pints.

My USP for this festival would be a cheaper half pint, say €1.75 to €2 to encourage the general macro public to try more ales thus increasing market awarenees anmd generating new business.

When I was talking about the "Typical Iriah Companies", I should have made it a bit clear that I wasnt basing this one the brewers. I was talking about the likes of the Taste of Dublin where, when it started, it was there to promote local food and kitchens and now has turned into a High price small portion festival with the sole objective of making as much profit as possible and product awareness has gone out the window

For what it's worth Kev, I agree with your thinking on this!

But then I very seldom pay pub prices either, thats why I brew myself.

I agree that price could be scary. Average Joe thinks in pints and would possibly think €5 a pint is on the sassy side.

Irish Craft Beer isn't more expensive than any other beer, and I'd hate for Average Joe to think it is, and be put off.

On the flipside it should not be any cheaper than macro beer either lest it be seen as cheap muck.

Agreed, but when you're paying a cover charge to enter what is essentially a promotional event. Seems a bit much to me!

Well I think it is extremely over priced.. we as a nation have got too used to publicans and the vintners association ripping us off for years..
How can €5 a pint of anything be justified... come on lads wake up!
If the pub trade is to survive , it needs to reduce its pricing structure accross board and get more craft brewers involved and give the consumer a better deal...

Rant over....
