All-Ireland Craft Beerfest. Dublin 23-25 September 14 years 9 months ago #49

A beer festival to promote Irish craft beer to Joe public could be likened to a trade show for whatever ( machinery, agricultural machines ( the ploughing champs for example ) computers, electronics, dare I mention Car shows? etc. etc.

At these shows manufacturers BEND OVER BACKWARDS to give stuff away to generate interset in their product!

I attended the Apple and Fruit expo in Friedrichshaven ( S. Germany, on lake Constanz aka the Bodensee ) and on one trade stand ( that made the most sexy stills imaginable ) they were RUNNING a STILL live, and producing 80% or so pear scnapps and all were invited to dip a glass and drink

Any body who has a brewery and gives the stuff away as a sample can or should be able to claim the taxes back.

If they want to promote craft beers then the breweries should be making a nominal charge for a pint/half/halbe/quarter litre to stop the loonies getting bladdered. NOT €5 a pint!

Buy the glass, beer free BTGBF similar acronym to BOGOF

Yeah sure Dublin prices are expensive but travel round and you will find Arthur for less than €4 a pint. Its called surviving a recession

Will's post is spot on.

Was talking to my brother in law this evening in Porterhouse Bray. He's involved in a related industry and I would consider him an expert in his field. He simply said "Too expensive".

He would concur with Will about taking the opportunity to give samples out for free.

I've paid a fiver for a Guinness at the RDS. It costs over that for a lager.
If it is just a bigger version of the Franciscan Well Easterfest, where it is free in, I too will feel a little ripped off. But having said that. I'll go and am looking forward to it. Hopefully it may be the start of a yearly fest in the capital city. Something that is lacking imo.

Ps Septemberfest was great when it was running.

Ok, its again late at night 'n the old brain is racing

What about a Beoir festival

I could probably get the rugby club for a day or even 2 in autumn.

The function room seats about 200 people to eat so is quite big. We also have another bar with conventional beers on tap( )

The idea is like a [u:3t5fd2k6]BIG B&C meet [/u:3t5fd2k6]- we bring lots of beer in bottles/kegs and sort of? ( if you get my drift ) give the beer away for free

This would promote Beoir and craft brewing, a few trade stands would not go amiss,

Sale of beer would have to be approved by the club etc but could be arranged. After all it is NOT ILLEGAL to give away a home brew

BTW: The club has a new chef with brilliant food!

Blue sky thinking

What do you think
